CASA Seeking Volunteer Advocates. Are you looking for a way you can give back in your community? CASA for the Highland Lakes is in need of volunteer advocates. A Court Appointed Special Advocate can make the single greatest difference in the life of a child.
We have an alarming number of new children entering foster care in our five county areas of Burnet, Blanco, Lampasas, Llano and San Saba. CASA volunteers are trained members of the community who advocate for abused and neglected children in family court. CASAs follow a child’s case as it moves through the family court system. CASA volunteers help ensure no child falls through the cracks.
A CASA volunteer is appointed by a judge to provide factual information on behalf of a child caught in a difficult legal process. The volunteer researches the case, learning everything they can about the child’s special situation. The CASA volunteer submits written reports to the judge on the child’s situation and recommends what is in the best interest for the child.
Volunteer Training will begin on October 2, 2013. The training is offered at the CASA office in Kingsland. Volunteers must be 21 years of age or older. For more information, visit our Web site at Highlandlakescasa.com, email: [email protected] or call the office at 325-388-3440.
